Christchurch R&D Greenhouse
Our first Christchurch build is a personal-scale greenhouse enclosed with polycarbonate, developed as a practical testing environment for our growing range of systems, products, and ideas.
The purpose of this build is to recreate, on a smaller scale, the conditions found within a conventional greenhouse. By using a fully enclosed structure, we can better understand how temperature, humidity, airflow, light, and growing conditions change throughout the day and across different seasons.
Rather than testing individual products in isolation, the greenhouse allows us to see how different systems perform together in a real growing environment. This creates a controlled space where new designs can be installed, monitored, adjusted, and improved before being considered for larger-scale applications.
The site will be used for testing our range of concepts, including greenhouse design features, growing systems, environmental controls, thermal management, irrigation, sensors, and future product developments.
By carrying out this work in Christchurch, we are also able to test these ideas under real local conditions, including colder winter temperatures and changing seasonal demands. The information gathered from the greenhouse will help guide future design decisions, identify areas for improvement, and provide practical data on how each system performs over time.
Ultimately, this first build is intended to act as a small-scale research and development greenhouse — a place where we can test, refine, and prove ideas before progressing them into larger modular and commercial growing systems.
